Travelling the world
After graduating from university with a degree in Information Technology, I fulfilled a lifelong dream of taking a gap year and travelling around Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, USA and Canada. Fresh from my trip, I decided to kick start my career as a Technical Writer and Market Analyst, producing research reports on the Irish market.
The move to Arum
I came across the job at Arum through a graduate recruitment website and I was excited to join as I could see opportunities to combine my love of travel with working on some exciting and challenging projects. It definitely did not disappoint. As soon as I started, I was whisked off to Russia to work on my first assignment of designing, developing and testing system implementation strategies at a retail bank in Moscow. This project was a very steep learning curve and I rapidly increased my knowledge of, not only the technical aspects of the role, but also learned the importance of pure consultancy skills and building strong client relationships.
What I love about working here
Over the past ten years at Arum, I have been lucky enough to work with a variety of clients across the UK, Ireland, Russia, Germany, and Poland, and every project has taught me something new and enabled me to become a better consultant. The work has been demanding and we sometimes work late nights and weekends to meet client deadlines, but the feeling of successfully delivering a project on time is extremely rewarding. I’ve also enjoyed being part of each project team, not only within our consultants but the client staff too; it’s so important to build a good team and morale to be successful. Everyone at Arum is happy to go above and beyond to support each other and the clients.
The future’s bright
I have recently been promoted to a new role Leading Arum’s Financial Services and Technology Vendors practice. This role gives me a wide variety of responsibilities from continuing to deliver projects for our clients, account management, sales, team management and developing the practice. I am excited to continue to be part of an expanding business with lots of opportunity for progression.
