Our history

Arum was established in 1998 and our founding desire has remained with us ever since then: to set our clients up for long-term success.

The timeline below charts our growth from launching in the UK to helping companies in more than 20 countries worldwide, and being recognised by the industry as experts in our field.

Timeline

  • 1998 – Founded in Edinburgh
We started out as experts delivering business and technical change, at this time with only a handful of staff.
 
  • 2004 – Focused our services solely on collections and recoveries
Within a few years, we had established ourselves as collections and recoveries subject matter experts, providing a mix of consultancy, interim management support, and training.
 
  • 2006 – First project in mainland Europe
Having worked with clients all over the UK for almost a decade, we partnered with an international bank to guide them towards a best in class collections operation in Germany and Spain.
 
  • 2012 – First project in the Americas
We continued our growth with a project to help our client manage an increase in mortgage payment defaults and customers facing financial difficulties.
 
  • 2014 – Opened London office
Our team expanded even further, and we opened an office in London.
 
  • 2015 – Listed in the Credit Today Utilities & Telecoms Top 50
Two senior members of our team were listed as key individuals who’d had a positive impact on the credit and collections industry.
 
  • 2016 – First project in Asia Pacific
Our client in Australia asked us to benchmark their collections operation to ensure it was future proofed and would remain a long-term centre of excellence.

  • 2016 – Placed on first UK government framework

We secured our place on the G-Cloud framework which ensures that all suppliers to UK public-sector departments have met the rigorous standards. We have since been added to two further frameworks.

  • 2017 – Sale of Arum to Jamie Waller

Jamie Waller (entrepreneur, investor, philanthropist and author) was the lead investor on the deal to acquire Arum, due to its great reputation in the industry, expertise, quality of service, transparency and ability to deliver.

  • 2018 – Achieved ISO and Cyber Essentials accreditations

We successfully gained several world-class, globally recognised accreditations, which demonstrate that Arum’s work is managed in line with international recommendations.

  • 2018 – Shortlisted for multiple awards

Two of our consultants were finalists at the Women in Credit Awards, and we were shortlisted for a Credit Award for ‘Outsourcing & Partnership Initiative of the Year’.

  • 2018 – Andrew Pritchard appointed to Managing Director 

Having worked with Arum since 2004, Andrew has been a major contributor to our success, including growing the consultancy team, and working on over 60 consulting engagements himself.

  • 2019 – Celebrating our 21st birthday
