Arum relays it support in build up to 2014 Commonwealth Games

Team Scotland 400m relay and individual athlete, Jamie Bowie, took a break from his Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games training to thank Arum for the sponsorship support that has helped four athletes take their marks at the Games.

The support from Arum and other businesses has provided vital training and resources that has helped accelerate athletes from the Sco400 training group to their Commonwealth dreams.  Gemma Nicol, Kris Robertson, Greg Louden and Jamie are heading for Glasgow to compete in the men’s and women’s 4x400m relay.

Visiting Arum’s new Head Office in Edinburgh, Jamie, one of the fastest 400m runners in Scotland’s history, said:  “In order to perform to our best potential in Glasgow we need to have the best preparations and training environment possible.  The business support we have received has helped us invest in specialised training and testing equipment to help us improve our performance for that competitive edge.

“We cannot make this journey alone and it is with additional support from businesses like Arum that will help us set the standard in Glasgow.”

The athletes are already competing at a high level of international competition, having secured medals at previous Commonwealth Games, this year’s World Indoor Championships, the World Championships in 2013, World Junior Championships, World Youth Championships, Youth Commonwealth Games, European Under-23 Championships and European Junior Championships.

They are being coached by ex-international 400-metre athlete Piotr Haczek, who competed for Poland at two Olympic Games and claimed medals at World and European Championships.

Aleks Tomczyk, Arum’s Chief Executive, said: “In the same way we help our clients to be successful and achieve their objectives; we understand the Sco400 team requires the most relevant support and training to gain the edge over their competitors.

“We are proud to provide our sponsorship to help the group of athletes optimise their performance and achieve sporting excellence and we wish them the best of luck at the Games.  We will be behind them all the way.”
