Migration from Tallyman system for major UK retailer completed within six months

Migration from Tallyman system for major UK retailer completed within six months

The challenge

Our client, one of the UK’s biggest retailers, wanted to migrate from their legacy Experian Tallyman collections system to a new platform.

Recognising Arum’s specialist skills in this area, the client asked us to help with the programme right from the preparation phase through to implementation, including handling the complex task of data migration from one system to the other.

The solution

During the first phase, we captured the client’s requirements, undertook a detailed analysis of the account portfolios in the legacy system, their related strategies and treatments, data attributes and characteristics, and carefully mapped this against the new system.

In the next phase Arum developed a bespoke translation tool, which sat between the old system and new system, to ensure all system data was appropriately transformed ready to be transferred into the new system.

Arum then undertook a number of ‘dress rehearsals’ of transferring different data files and, once confident all was well, executed the migration of the live data and activation of the new system.

The results

Great teamwork from the client, the system vendor and Arum meant the system migration project was delivered within six months, without compromising any of the client’s original requirements.

Often projects like this require additional support from the system vendor or specialist contractors, but with Arum’s involvement this was avoided and the client benefited from a shorter timeline and reduced costs.
